West Elm is one of my favorite go-to's for furniture, lighting & decor. My home has a collection of their stuff. Although I have used West Elm light fixtures in my current condo renovation project, I don't have the budget for their furniture.
After painting a feature wall in the bedroom Benjamin Moore Hale Navy, I wanted something that would really "pop" for a headboard. I saw this headboard from West Elm and LOVED it.
With shipping surcharges & taxes this piece comes in over $500...not going to work for this project. Meanwhile, I spotted this headboard from Wayfair. Look familiar?
This headboard is metal rather than wood.... and it's not the right color to pop against the navy feature wall. However at the $110 price tag, I figured I could make it work! So, I ordered it.
The headboard arrived in a few days. The metal was a bit more bronze in color than I expected. But that didn't matter, as I had plans to change it up anyway.
I picked up some of this at my local paint store.
And got to work in my garage. One coat was not enough.
Two did it...
And voila!
Some hacks work, some don't.... I am pretty pleased with how this turned out.
Happy hacking! Leslie
